Digital Camera calls A50 and Elura products we would buy with our own money
Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in optical and digital imaging technology, announced today that the Canon Elura digital video (DV) camcorder and PowerShot A50 have been selected by Digital Camera magazine as “Editor’s Choice” in its Digital Buyers Guide 2000.
The only digital camcorder recognized by Digital Camera magazine, the Elura was chosen as the “Best Overall Digital Video Camera” for its compact size, well-integrated design, world-class optics, progressive scanning for frame-to-frame clarity, and Optical Image Stabilization. The PowerShot A50 digital camera was cited by the magazine as “Editor’s Choice” in the category of “Best Overall Value for a Digital Still Camera,” and was acknowledged for its wide-angle zoom, sharp optics, easy handling, durability, and price.
“We are elated with the overwhelming positive response we’ve received this year for both new and existing digital still and video cameras,” said Yukiaki Hashimoto, vice president and general manager, Photographic Products Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “These highly prized designations seem to reflect the popularity of these products by both general consumers and senior amateurs.”
Condensing seven issues into a single comprehensive issue, this first annual Digital Buying Guide is designed to help consumers make sense of the choices the digital market offers. After evaluating and reporting on their findings, the editors of Digital Camera have summarized the most important features to look for in a camera, while considering value and price.
