Canon Lens Shift Technology used in new optical image

Canon Canada Inc., the leader in camera and video imaging, today announced the development of the first video lens with a built-in Optical Lens Shift Mechanism to stabilize image shake -- a condition that becomes increasingly problematic as camcorder users zoom in to record subjects in the telephoto range.

According to Canon, this new method of optical image stabilization (O.I.S.) represents a significant breakthrough in the camcorder industry. By incorporating this Lens Shift mechanism into camcorder lenses, Canon, and other companies utilizing Canon lenses, can now manufacture camcorders that are diminutive in size while still offering consumers the most effective method of image stabilization -- optical, rather than electronic.
